Operation LGBTQ Empower
For Parents: 1 Hour
Parents will learn about the dangers impacting our children’s safety both online and in the real world and take home concrete skills including the Operation LGBTQ Empower language of safety which they can then teach their children.

Operation LGBTQ Empower
Family Event: 1 Hour
Parents receive Operation LGBTQ Empower for Parents while elementary age children are put into groups (k-2) (3-5) and receive an introduction to Operation LGBTQ Empower ’s comprehensive program. The last 10 minutes the children come back to the parents and share with them what they learned.

Internet Safety
For Parents: 1 Hour
Parents learn the dangers of the internet and how to combat those dangers with concrete Operation LGBTQ Empower skills and learn a language of safety they can begin using immediately to keep their children safe online from: Predators, Cyber bullying, and Peer Pressure.

- Parents will learn about sexting, texting and how to keep their children safe.
- Parents will learn how to open the lines of communication regarding children’s use of the internet while supervising them for their safety.
Bullying Prevention Seminar
For Parents: 1 Hour
Parents learn the dangers of bullying and how to combat those dangers with concrete Operation LGBTQ Empower skills and language of safety so they can begin to talk to their children immediately.
Topics covered:
- Bullying Statistics
- Characteristics of a bully
- Bystander and up-stander
- How to teach your children to be up-standers
- Signs and systems of a child being bullied or being the bully
- Cyberbullying, and more.
Benefits:
- Parents will be informed about the problem of bullying & cyberbullying.
- Parents will learn concrete skills they can take home and use immediately.
- Parents will learn what signs to look for in their children if they are being bullied or are the bully.
- Parents will learn how to effectively communicate with their children regarding this sensitive topic.
- Parents will learn how to navigate and work through administration or friends regarding their child being a victim of bullying or being the bully.
KID Workshop Options
Getting Started with an
Anti-Bullying Workshop
2-hour introductory session designed for site staff or school teams. This two-hour workshop introduces the resources and tools available on the Operation LGBTQ
Kids Empower website with positive strategies to prevent and respond to bullying and intolerance.
The workshop includes:
- An overview of state and federal anti-bullying legislation and requirements for schools
- Basic information about bullying prevention and intervention
- Methods to address bullying and cyberbullying
- Effective ways to teach students to be upstanding
Bullying/Intolerance
2-day workshop or a series of 4 half-day sessions designed for site staff, teams, or individual teachers or administrators.
This workshop will help site staff or school teams design and prepare a campaign to address bullying and intolerance on their campus. Participants will actively be guided through a process, working together to create an action plan for instituting their unique localized workshop. They will be introduced to resources, films, and lesson guides that will help them unleash creativity and empower student leadership. They will learn strategies for sustaining attitudinal and behavioral changes to reduce all forms of social cruelty and increase kindness and student voice on their campus.
This workshop includes:
- An overview of different groups of students who are often targets of bullying, students with differences (race, gender, sexual orientation or perceived sexual orientation, appearance, and disabilities) and how to facilitate discussions and lead activities aimed to address and reduce stereotypes.
- Tools and models for designing and completing a site needs assessment that meets the anti-bullying legislative requirements and addresses issues of bullying and intolerance on campuses/districts.
- Best practices in training staff and students to identify, prevent, and intervene in face-to-face bullying and cyber-bullying situations.
- Strategies for role-playing that help bystanders learn to become upstanders.
- Hands-on work with action plans, learning to create leadership teams by drawing from student and community groups as well as educators.
Addressing bullying and intolerance prevention and intervention
Participants will learn about best practices and models for addressing bullying and intolerance at their school sites.
This workshop includes:
- Statistics on incidents of bullying and intolerance.
- Social-emotional and academic impact of bullying and cyberbullying.
- Effective research-based models to prevent and respond.
- Supporting the victim.
- Effective methods of intervening for victims and bystanders to become upstanders.
- Supporting behavior transformation for those who bully.
- Targets of bullying and stereotyping.
- Facilitating hard conversations on race, gender, and other forms of intolerance.
Operation LGBTQ Kids Empower for Parents: Building Empathy at Home and School
2-hour session designed for parents and caregivers.
This workshop includes:
- Interactive discussions to explore the impact of bullying and stereotyping in their children’s personal and school lives.
- Discussing the importance of building empathy and intercultural understanding in their children.
- Learning ways to support their children and to prevent bullying among siblings and friends at home.
- Learning how to collaborate with schools to foster safe and inclusive environments, as well as advocating for their own children.
- Overview of statistics and impact of bullying and intolerance.
ADULT Workshop Options
Standard Course/Workshop
Our individual courses are comprised of fundamental strikes, kicks, knees, blocks, awareness, and personal and street safety. Our classes cover important content such as Boundary Setting & Assertiveness, assault awareness & Resistance which instruct on ground techniques, impairing breaks, and pressure points.
Specialty Course/Workshop
Specialty courses at Operation LGBTQ Empower include classes lasting 90 minutes to 2 hours. These courses include baton, pepper spray, and stun gun training when in everyday situations. These courses include the skills offered in the standard classes with an extension in using disabling weapons.
LGBTQ on their Own Course/Workshop
This four (4) hour course includes the elements of personal safety critical for our college aged LGBTQ groups, including date rape drugs, jogging safety, safe parking lot strategies, social media net-iquette, on-campus violence, cyber stalkers and more. Our young LGBTQ members enjoy and are empowered by our defense methods.
